Flavia bookmark

Make a present for your favourite book - a perfect lacy bookmark which hold the pages carefully!
I named it "Flavia" because of my favourite novels - Flavia mystery books.

I made a chart because I find it more comfortable to follow.
I used fingering cotton yarn and 2 mm hook.

To start ch 13, (2 dc, ch3, 2 dc) in 4th ch from the hook. Skip 5 ch, (2 dc, ch3, 2 dc)  in 6th ch from the 1st "shell", dc in 3th ch from the second "shell" (the last ch of the ch 13).

2) ch3, "shell" (the "shell" is [2 dc, ch3, 2 dc], right?) in ch3 of the "shell" of the 1st row, repeat it with next "shell", dc to the 1st ch3 of the 1st row.
Then follow my chart. I drew only three rows, but you can make your bookmark as long as you like.

Have you noticed the last row on the chart? So when you make a bookmark so long that you're ready to finish, here's the last row:
ch9, sc in between the "shells", sh 9, sc to the top of ch3, fasten off.

As you can see on the photos, I've got a dark blue edging on my bookmark. If you'd like you can make the same, just follow the chart:

Again, I drew only a three rows bookmark, continue to crochet to make the edge for whole bookmark.
P. S. I made a mistake while drawing - I've crossed one ch in the over the left side, sorry for the mess :)

Wasn't it easy? The only thing we need is to make a "tail"!
Join the yarn to the thick edge of the bookmark (see the photo) and crochet a chain so it can cover a book around. Fasten off. Sew a button to the free edge of the "tail", enjoy!
If you have any quenstions, you know where you can find me ;)
